Meet Derek Thompson, US Marine Corps Veteran, G4V Graduate and Country Singer/Songwriter

Song Sung True: A Veteran’s View – featuring the stories and original music of US Marine Corps Veteran, Derek Thompson. Derek served two tours in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. After his military service, he went on to become a firefighter where, for ten years he fought fires and saved lives. Later he worked arduously as a coal miner doing the kind of tasks which reinforced his versatility and work ethic. His physical prowess and determination led him to the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), where he competed and showcased his acquired skills and fighting spirit. Derek has always had a deep passion for music. As a country songwriter, he channels his experiences and emotions into songs that speak to the struggles and triumphs of life. Derek has performed in front of crowds at Herostock in Ashland, and is actively writing and gigging around his home state of Nebraska.
